Description
A terrace of four houses, built in the mid to later 19th century in Redruth. The houses were likely constructed using cross-wall construction with stone cross-walls and timber stud front and rear walls, the front faced with scored render, and the rear slate-hung. The roof is slate, with some areas slurred.
The rectangular terrace is divided into two sections of adjoining pairs. Each pair of houses is symmetrical, arranged over two storeys and four bays each. Rusticated pilasters mark the corners and the central junction of the terrace, with a moulded plaster string course running along the facade. Each pair features a central doorway with pilaster jambs, a plain frieze, a dentilled cornice, and recessed doors which rise one internal step. Each doorway has an overlight window above, which has been altered in all properties except number 3, which retains margin panes. The houses have one window at ground floor level and two above, the window above the door being narrower. All windows have shouldered architraves and raised moulded sills, with mostly four-pane sashes, except for number 1, which has 12- and 16-paned windows on the first floor. The roof is hipped, with projecting eaves, a ridge chimney at the central junction, and another chimney at the right-hand end wall. The rear elevation has mostly 12- or 16-paned sash windows, and small single-storey extensions are attached to numbers 2, 3 and 4. The interiors remain uninspected.
