Description
The Bandstand in Gyllyngdune Gardens, Falmouth, was built in 1907 by W.H. Tresidder. It features a cast iron structure on a moulded rendered base, topped with a zinc roof that has multi-pendant eaves, scrolled crests over each bay, and a central finial adorned with scroll and leaf decoration. The bandstand has an octagonal plan and includes an arcade of shaped arches with ornate spandrels supported by slender columns. The balustrades are designed with both straight and twist balusters, along with elaborate panels. It was constructed for the Corporation of Falmouth, which purchased part of the Gyllyngdune estate, and is a prominent feature of the pleasure garden complex that includes the Princess Pavilion.
