Monument to Richard Trevithick. Circa 1930s. Small roughly-hewn granite monolith on a plain base. Polished front with a carved crest of Cornwall at the top and an inscription below:- 'Richard Trevithick, Engineer, Inventor of the high-pressure steam engine. Born on April 13th 1771 in the house that stood on this site. Died on April 22nd 1833 at Dartford, Kent. This monument is erected as an appreciation of the great inventor and his gifts to the world'.
