Description

This is a farmhouse located on the north side of the settlement at Trusell, dating from the late 19th century, though it may have earlier origins. The building is constructed of stone rubble with granite quoins and features a slate roof with gable ends and brick end stacks. The layout is a double depth plan with the entrance positioned to the left of center. The kitchen is on the right and the parlour on the left, both heated by end stacks. A staircase is situated opposite the entrance, with a dairy to the rear left and an unheated service room to the rear right.

The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical front with two windows. The entrance, located to the left of center, includes a 19th-century door and a 19th-century brick porch. To the left of the entrance is a 19th-century mullion and transom window, while a larger 19th-century window is found to the right. On the first floor, there are two 19th-century two-light casements. Above the entrance on the rear elevation, there are two carved granite panels featuring the initials S.P. (Parsons) and an illegible date, which may have been reset from an earlier house.

Inside, the farmhouse is especially complete. The kitchen on the right has a large fireplace with a granite chamfered lintel and jambs, dating from the late 16th or early 17th century, featuring concave stops, although the fireplace has been partly blocked. The dairy at the rear left is almost complete. The outbuildings to the northeast contain the remains of a late 16th-century chamfered granite segmental arch. There are indications that the dressed stone in the back wall of the house and in the outbuilding may have originated from an earlier house on the site or from a disused farmhouse located to the south.
