Description
Trebutts is a house dating from the early 18th century, constructed of slate stone rubble with a slate roof featuring gable ends. It has a projecting stone rubble stack on the left gable end and a brick stack on the right gable end. The layout likely consists of two rooms with a cross or through passage, possibly with a kitchen on the left and a smaller parlour on the right, both heated by the gable end stacks. A small outshot, added in the late 19th century, is located on the left gable end.
The house is two storeys high and has a regular two-window front. The front wall shows several straight joints, and the central section appears to have been rebuilt. A notable feature is a 2-light greenstone window, carved from a single piece of greenstone, which lights the fireplace in the left room. The cusping detail suggests an early date, possibly from the 15th century, indicating that this window may have been reset. There is also a 12-pane sash window, a plank door, and a 20th-century window to the right. On the first floor, there are two 19th-century 3-light horizontally sliding sash windows, along with 20th-century glazed roof lights on the front slope. The interior has not been inspected.
