Description
Hawksland is a house located in Higher Tremar Coombe, built in the late 18th century to early 19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of painted stone rubble, with some areas covered in slate. It features a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends, and gable end stacks that have cornices.
The house has a two-room plan with a central entrance leading to a passage, and each room is heated by a gable end stack. The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical two-window front, with the upper level being slate-hung. On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century two-light casement window to the left, and two 20th-century two-light casements to the right, along with a stone porch that has a pitched roof and a 20th-century door. The first floor features two early 19th-century two-light casements, each with six panes and L hinges.
Attached to the right side of the house is a single-storey lean-to, which includes a 20th-century door with a slate hood and a two-light casement. The right side has a 20th-century single light and a two-light casement in the lean-to. The left side has a 20th-century window at ground level to the left and a four-pane light to the right, with the upper level also being slate-hung. The rear of the building is blind and features a letterbox from the reign of Edward VII. The interior has not been inspected.
