Description
The pair of chimneys at Craddock Moor Mine, dating from around 1850 to 1860, are constructed from granite rubble. One chimney is located to the west and the other to the east. The western chimney has a circular plan, is tapered, and stands on a plinth. The eastern chimney also has a circular plan and is tapered, featuring a cornice and the remains of a gabled building at its base. Craddock Moor Mine began operations in 1844, was taken over by a new company in 1854, and had a small 16-inch engine installed. By 1862, the mine reached a depth of 100 fathoms and was at the height of its prosperity, but operations ceased by 1873 when the machinery was put up for sale.
