Farmhouse and adjoining outbuildings. C17, mostly rebuilt circa early C18, outbuilding added circa early C19, refloored and reroofed following a fire circa late C19 or early C20. Killas rubble with dressed granite moorstone quoins, some jambstones, lintels and flush lintel band to front, slate sills painted rubble at rear. Asbestos slate roofs with circa early C18 tall granite ashlar chimneys with moulded cornices over the original gable ends of the front range and a massive external stone rubble stack in 5 diminishing stages with set offs and with brick chimney shaft at the rear gable end of the rear service wing. Plan: Irregular overall T-shaped plan. Original C17 plan uncertain but probably the left hand gable end of the house survives from this, otherwise rebuilt as a 2-room plan circa early C18 with hall/kitchen, left, and parlour, right, with through passage between. Probably circa mid or late C18 extended at right angles to the rear with a kitchen, slightly right of middle. This kitchen has an external gable end stack. Circa late C18 or early C19 a semi-bank barn was added on the left hand side with probably shippon below and fodder or grain storage above, the rear first floor loading doorway approached by a wide rubble ramp. Finally the rear right-hand angle filled by pantry outshut and small C20 porch in the other rear angle. 2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical 3 window house front with doorway and window over slightly left of middle. There is a blocked window opening on each side of the doorway. Continuous ashlar lintel/band course over the ground floor openings and a leaser ashlar course between the second from left and right hand first floor windows. The large slightly irregular quoins don't correspond to the ashlar courses. All original circa early C18 openings the ground floor window openings square, the first floor openings the same width but not as tall. C20 glazed door, circa early C20 6- pane horned sashes. Adjoining at the left hand side of the front is a 2 storey shippon/barn with small ground and first floor ventilator windows and a blocked loading/winnowing doorway to the middle of the first floor (first floor doorway at rear opposite approached by rubble ramp). At the right hand gable end of the house is a first floor window opening (left) with a reused C17 chamfered granite lintel over. Above this window is a smaller blocked window opening formerly piercing the gable to light the attic. Interior : all carpentry and joinery circa late C19 or early C20. Fireplaces partly blocked. Tregoose is an interesting house, remodelled in the C18 to provide 4 ground floor windows but only 3 first floor windows (usually 5). The continuous lintel course was fashionable : here carried out in granite but often in timber. The tall ashlar chimneys are very fine and the stepped kitchen chimney very unusual and attractive.
