Description
The Coryton Arms is a public house dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed of stone rubble, with the left side rendered, and features a slate roof with gable ends. The building has a stone rubble front lateral hall stack and a stone rubble stack with a brick shaft on the lower right-hand gable end. Originally, it had a three-room layout with a through passage. There is a staircase projection at the rear from the hall, and an outshut has been extended to the rear.
The building is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical three-window front. On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century inserted door on the left and a 19th-century four-light casement with glazing bars to the right of the front lateral stack. A 20th-century lean-to porch made of stone rubble with a slate roof is located on the right, which includes a three-light casement and a 20th-century plank door. Additionally, there is an early 20th-century three-light casement in a shallow projection on the right. The first floor features early 20th-century casements with two and three lights.
Inside, there are chamfered ceiling beams with remnants of ogee stops. The fireplace of the front lateral stack has a later timber lintel, while the fireplace on the right has a brick segmental arch. There is possibly a rear winder stair that is currently used as a store. The first floor was not inspected.
