Description
5 Paynters Cross is an estate house built around the mid-19th century, with few later alterations. The building is constructed of rendered stone rubble and features an asbestos slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. There are gable end stacks, with a rendered shaft on the left and a brick shaft on the right.
The house has a two-room plan with a central entrance, and each room is heated by a gable end stack. There is an integral two-storey service outshut that contains shallow unheated service rooms.
On the exterior, the house is two storeys high and has two windows, creating a symmetrical appearance. The first floor features two 16-pane sash windows from the 19th century, while the ground floor has a 16-pane sash window on the left and a 20-pane sash window on the right. There is a wooden gabled open-fronted porch from the early 20th century, which has an inner four-panelled door. The right side of the house includes a two-light eight-pane casement window on the left, a plain door, and a single casement window on the right. A central 12-pane light is located on the first floor, providing light to the stairway.
The interior has not been inspected.
