Description

Numbers 1-4 Dunstanville Villas comprise a terrace of four houses dating from the early 19th century. The houses are built of stucco over a rubble core, with asbestos slate roofs that are half-hipped to the right and hipped with a projecting front to number 1 on the left. The roofs have projecting eaves and gabled roof dormers to numbers 2-4. There are three brick stacks projecting from the ridge. The houses follow a double-depth plan and have a 1:3:2 window arrangement. The lower floors of numbers 2-4 have plain window architraves, while the first-floor windows have round arches. Original or mid-19th century hornless sash windows are found in numbers 2-4, and contemporary replacement sash windows are present in number 1. Numbers 2 and 3 feature central porches with console ends, moulded entablatures, and four-panel doors with overlights; a similar porch and door are found at number 1. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest. The forecourt walls are constructed of coursed killas rubble, with a rounded corner and return on the right, topped with canted granite copings. Early 19th-century wrought-iron railings with scrolled decoration are also present.
