Description
This house, located about 100 metres south of Fennel House, dates from the early to mid-19th century and has undergone few 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble and features a rag slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends, arranged in two spans. The front range includes gable end stacks with brick shafts, while the rear range has a gable end stack with a brick shaft on the right side and is partly slate-hung.
The layout consists of a double depth plan with a central entrance. The principal rooms are located to the front left and right, each heated by a gable end stack. The rear range contains a kitchen on the right, also heated by a gable end stack, and an unheated service room on the rear left, with a staircase located at the rear centre.
The exterior is two storeys high and features a symmetrical two-window front. There is a central 20th-century door, and on either side, at both the ground and first floors, are two-light 6-pane casements from the early 20th century, which have cambered stone arches at the ground floor and timber lintels at the first floor. The right end of the house is blind, while the left end is slate-hung and has an external stack. At the rear, there is a 20th-century window on the left side at ground floor and a small 20th-century lean-to on the right with a plank door. At the first floor, there are two similar two-light 6-pane casements, and the lean-to conceals a plank door leading to the rear of the passage. The interior has not been inspected.
