Description
The Old House is a town house dating to circa 1700, with restoration work carried out in 1986. It is constructed of render over rubble, with a steep asbestos slate roof and cast-iron ogee gutter; raking dormers are situated over the second-floor windows. The building follows a double-depth plan, with a rear wing on the right. It rises three storeys, with the second floor partly within the roof space, and has a two-window range. Early 19th-century hornless sash windows with glazing bars are present. The ground floor features a widened central doorway (previously with a wooden doorcase) and flanking 20th-century shop windows. The interior ground floor has been altered in the 20th century; the remainder of the interior was not inspected. The building is included on the list for its group value.
