Description
Fenwick's Oats is a town house with a later shop, likely built in the early 18th century. The front features painted slate hanging on a timber frame and has a steep hipped rag slate roof. It has a heavy moulded wooden eaves cornice from the 18th century, with the moulding returned at the ends. The building has a narrow double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a one-window range. The mid to late 19th century windows are paired 2-pane hornless sashes, and there is a heavy 18th-century moulded cornice above the first-floor window, which creates a pseudo jetty effect, similar to another building located at the corner of Broad Street and Southgate Street in Launceston. The ground floor features a recessed 20th-century bowed shop front with small panes and possibly the original moulded cornice above. The interior has not been inspected.
