Description
The cross located approximately 10 metres south of the Church of St Credan in Sancreed is a Grade II* listed structure. This pre-Conquest cross is a tall wheel-headed granite monolith, rectangular in shape. The tall shaft features incised intersecting or chevron decoration on all four sides. The wheel-head displays an Alisee patee cross in bold relief, with a depiction of the crucifixion on one side and a central boss on the opposite side. This cross is one of two similar crosses in the churchyard, both noted for their unusual height and intricate carvings. It is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument 641.
