Description

This is an early 19th-century suburban villa located on Exeter Street in Launceston. The villa has a textured finish on incised stucco, a rag slate hipped roof with projecting eaves, and two rendered stacks. It’s built on a square double-depth plan with reception rooms on the right, and features two storeys plus attics over a basement. The front facade is symmetrical with three windows. The original hornless sash windows retain glazing bars, while the first floor windows are square over taller sashes. A central round-arched doorway is topped with a concentric spoked fanlight above a panelled door and sidelights. A tall round-headed stair sash with a fanlight head is present on the left-hand return, and original sashes are also found at the rear. The interior is largely original, boasting high-quality features such as an inner fanlight matching the exterior one, moulded plaster ceiling cornices, marble chimney-pieces with roundels, panelled doors, and a large open-well open-string staircase.
