Description
The Methodist Chapel and schoolroom, along with garden walls and a gate to the front, were built in 1869. The structure is made of ashlar slatestone with freestone and granite-dressed quoins, topped with a rag slate roof featuring gable ends at both the front and rear. The chapel has a rectangular plan with the entrance located in the front gable end. This gable features a tall round-headed arch that frames the modern double doors and wrought iron grille. There are three round-headed sash windows with margin glazing bars on the left and right elevations. The schoolroom is located directly at the rear, with a 20th-century extension on the lower right side of the schoolroom to the southeast. The interior has not been inspected. The garden walls at the front are constructed of stone rubble with granite coping, and there is a 19th-century wrought-iron gate. John Wesley preached in St Tudy in 1746, and in 1811, eight members of the church built a chapel on land obtained from Samuel Kekewich. The first chapel was registered in 1824 and was later converted into a cottage.
