Description
Mullyon House is a house, probably from the 17th century, with some exterior remodeling done in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of whitewashed stone rubble with plastered cob upper walls and has a slate roof that has been partially cement-washed, featuring brick chimneys at the gabled ends. The building has a two-room plan with a cross passage and a staircase projection at the rear, which extends to form an L-shape on the northwest side. There is a later 19th-century single-storey extension at the back with a catslide roof. The house is asymmetrical and has two storeys with a three-window front.
The south front features a centrally placed double-storey gabled porch. On the ground floor, to the left of the porch, there is a 19th-century sash window with two panes per sash. The porch has a 19th-century panelled timber door. To the right of the porch, there is a very small square window alongside a larger 20th-century two-light casement window with glazing bars. On the first floor, to the left of the porch, there is another 19th-century sash window with two panes per sash, along with similar windows above the porch door and to the right. Inside, unusual ovolo moulded ceiling beams can be seen in the hall and the room to the right. There is a closed string staircase with turned balustrades and a newel post. Blocked tunnels are visible in the cellar, although the first floor was not inspected.
