Description
A row of cottages, now a single dwelling, likely dating from the 17th century. The property was substantially restored in the 1970s, including the installation of concrete lintels. The lower walls are of stone rubble with ribbon pointing, while the upper walls are rendered cob, all built upon bedrock foundations. The roof is thatched. Brick chimneys are present. The internal plan has been altered.
The building is 1 1/2 storeys high and asymmetrical in appearance. The east front features ground floor six-light, 16-pane casement windows, along with two blocked door openings on the right. A 20th-century timber door is also present. Five two-light, 16-pane casement windows are on the first floor. The thatched roof steps up in the centre to accommodate the rising ground towards the north.
The west front is also asymmetrical, with 20th-century windows. A first-floor casement window has been inserted into the west gable, and a small, single-storey extension dating from the mid-19th century is attached to the east gable, featuring a double door and a corrugated roof. A fireplace is located on the north end, constructed of rubble stone with a cambered timber lintel and a clay oven. The building has an unusual external appearance.
