Description
The Bate monument is a headstone located in the churchyard about 7 metres north-west of the tower of the Church of St Meubred in Cardinham. This 18th-century headstone is made of slate and is unusually large, featuring a shouldered nowy head. It has an incised border and displays a central cherub with wings, along with a pierced heart on the right side of the admonitory verses. The monument commemorates Roger Bate, who died in 1780, as well as other members of the family.
