Description
This outbuilding, located immediately southeast of Burraton Farmhouse, likely dates from the mid-18th century and incorporates earlier materials. It was re-roofed in the mid-19th century. The structure is built from roughly coursed slate-stone, with some quartzite and granite, and features granite quoins. It has a hipped slate roof and a rectangular plan with two levels.
On the front, there is a concave-moulded mullion window with two round-headed lights on the ground floor. The right side of the building has a two-light flat-faced mullion window above external lateral steps to the left, and a square hatch opening to the right.
Inside, there is a full-length loft supported by curving braces that hold up the 19th-century principal rafter roof, which is arranged in four bays. During the last survey in November 1987, a cill or lintel from a mullion window was found lying on the ground near the outbuilding.
