Description
This is a barn located 3 metres to the south west of Lower Trevivian Farmhouse, dating from around the 18th century and incorporating some earlier materials. It is constructed of stone rubble, possibly with reused granite quoins, and features a rag slate roof with a gable end on the left and a hipped end on the right. The barn has a rectangular plan, likely with a shippon on the ground floor and a threshing floor above. It was extended by one bay to the left in the mid to late 20th century.
The exterior is two storeys high, with a central entrance that has a reused chamfered granite segmental arch. There are two plank doors on either side of the entrance, each with granite lintels. Above the entrance is a threshing door, which originally had a hood and a window to the right. The left gable end features the later 20th-century extension.
Inside, there are three heavy chamfered ceiling beams, which are probably reused and may be unstopped or have stops that are buried. The roof structure was replaced in the 20th century.
