Description

This is a house located directly to the east of Treglasta Farmhouse, dating from the early to mid 17th century. It is built from rendered stone rubble and features a slate roof with gable ends. The right-hand gable end has a projecting stone rubble stack. The original layout of the house is unclear, but it appears to have been a one-room plan with an entrance on the left leading into a small unheated room. The larger room on the right is heated by the end stack and includes a cloam oven. The range on the left has been altered, with only the thick front wall remaining, suggesting it may have been part of a second room, although there is a straight joint between the two ranges.

The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical two-window front, featuring a 20th-century window on the ground floor. There is also a 20th-century porch on the left and a 20th-century two-light casement window on the right. On the first floor, there are two 20th-century windows. The ground floor window on the right-hand gable end has a granite surround, while the first-floor window is an early two-light window made from a single piece of greenstone.

Inside, the house has fairly slight, roughly chamfered ceiling beams. The fireplace has granite unmoulded jambs and an unmoulded greenstone lintel. An unusual feature on the first floor gable end is the survival of a two-light greenstone window, which has one narrow light and one wider light, along with mortices for stanchion bars. The roof is a four-bay structure with principals that are partly halved, lapped, and pegged at the apices.
