Description

The Stamps engine house at Wheal Peevor Mine is a derelict structure from the 1870s, located in Redruth. It is built from squared granite and uncoursed rubble, featuring brick arches over the windows and a brick upper stage on the chimney, which is currently roofless. The building has a rectangular plan oriented on an east-west axis, with a bob wall on the west side that overlooks the site of the former stamps. The chimney is attached at the north-east corner and has three short stages, with various round-headed openings, including a driver's window in the bob wall, a large opening in the south side wall, and some square-headed and altered openings. The tapered cylindrical chimney lacks cornices and has a slightly damaged top on the brick stage. This engine house is part of a significant group of structures on the site.
