Description

REDRUTH RADNOR SW 74 SW 6/292 Winding engine house to Wheal Peevor Mine at SW 708 442 GV II Winding engine house (or "whim") to former tin mine; now derelict. Probably 1870's. Uncoursed granite and killas rubble with bob wall mostly of granite blocks, window arches of brick, brick upper stage to chimney; now roofless. Rectangular plan on east-west axis, with bob wall to west, chimney at south-east corner. Three stages, with round-headed openings including driver's window in bob wall; sides of bob opening damaged. Tapered cylindrical chimney with no cornices, 3 darker bands in brick stage. Reference: D.B.Barton, op.cit.. Part of very striking group on this site.
