Description
This is a churchyard cross located about 4 metres south of the south porch of the Church of St Meubred in Cardinham, dating from around the 10th century. It is made of granite and stands approximately 2 metres high. The shaft has a rectangular shape with roll-moulded edges and features raised carvings on all sides, showcasing interlace and plaitwork designs. The cross tapers towards the top and has a wheelhead that includes a Latin cross, which is pierced through. The arms of the cross extend slightly beyond the rim of the wheel, which is also moulded. The carvings on the wheelhead are consistent on both the front and rear sides. This structure is recognized as an ancient monument.
