Description
This is a barn located 100 metres southeast of Croan, likely built in the early 18th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a bitumen-coated slate roof with half-hipped ends. The barn has a rectangular and fairly deep plan, with an entrance on the left-hand side.
The exterior is one storey with an attic, and the front elevation includes two window openings that are probably from the 19th century. Although the ventilation slit openings can be seen from the interior, they have been blocked on the outside. The right-hand side elevation has narrow slit openings with several rows of dove holes above them. There are large double doors on the left-hand side elevation.
Inside, the barn has deep narrow openings for the ventilation slits, which are splayed on the interior. The first-floor joists are massive but roughly cut. The roof structure has been partly replaced in the 19th century, with the principals halved, lap-jointed, and pegged at the apices.
