Description

This is a group of three reset headstones and two reset ledgerstones, dating from 1652 to 1764, located on a bank one metre to the east of the north transept of the Church of St Julitta in Lanteglos-by-Camelford.

The ledgerstones include one for William Honey and Thomas Honey, with Thomas having died in 1719. This slate rectangular ledgerstone features a marginal inscription in upper case lettering and a central panel inscription in italic script, although the stone is partly damaged. Another ledgerstone belongs to John -, who died in 1652, and is also a rectangular slate with a marginal inscription.

Among the headstones, one commemorates John Barnes, Esq. of the Borough of Camelford, who died in 1764. This slate rectangular headstone is inscribed in both upper and lower case lettering with serifs. Another headstone is for William and Elizabeth Gregory, who died in 1758, featuring an inner panel with a nowy-shaped head and inscribed with upper and lower case lettering with serifs. The final headstone is for Susanna, the wife of Thomas May, who died in 1723, and is a rectangular slate headstone inscribed with rounded upper and lower case lettering, including a verse.
