Description
This is a barn located 20 metres southeast of Treswen Farmhouse, likely built around 1850 or 1880 for the Glynn family. It is constructed from stone rubble with granite quoins and lintels, topped with a rag slate roof that has hipped ends. The barn has a rectangular plan, featuring shippons on the ground floor and a threshing floor above, which was originally powered by a now-absent water wheel.
The exterior is two storeys high, with an asymmetrical front elevation. There is a wide entrance with plank double doors to the left of centre, and stone rubble external steps leading up to another set of plank double doors for the loft directly above. On the ground floor to the right, there are two shippon doors, and the first floor has two casement windows flanking the loft entrance. A datestone marked J G (Glynn) from either 1850 or 1880 is positioned near the centre, and there are two rows of pigeon holes to the left. The interior has not been inspected. This barn is part of a group with Treswen Farmhouse.
