Bank. 1867. By Henry Rice. Pink granite ashlar on white granite ashlar plinth; asbestos slate roof with crested pierced clay ridge tiles behind pierced parapet. Deep plan. Italianate style. 2 storeys; nearly symmetrical 5-window 2:1 2-bay front. Rusticated end pilasters and similar pilasters flanking central entrance bay; panelled aprons over plinth; moulded ground-floor sills; channelled rustications to ground floor; plain string; frieze as fascia; moulded mid-floor string and entablature with consoles under parapet. Ground floor has round-arched doorway otherwise segmental-arched openings to ground floor with plate glass and top-lights with 2 round-arched heads except for narrower doorway with panelled door and 2-pane overlight on light. 1st floor has round-arched windows with original 2-pane hornless sashes and hoods on consoles. All openings with recessed architraves and keyblocks. Inner doorway has fanlight. INTERIOR has moulded ceiling cornices enriched with near Corinthian capital between left-hand windows. 1st-floor right-hand room has moulded ceiling cornice with carved band. The most elaborate and well-preserved Victorian bank in Liskeard.
