Description

MABE SW 73 SE 3/73 Lower Spargo Farmhouse including adjoining outbuilding GV II Farmhouse, including adjoining outbuilding. Parts of walls circa late C16 or C17, mostly rebuilt circa early C18. Painted granite rubble with some granite dressings including some reused C17 chamfered masonry. Slurried scantle slate roof with very large granite rubble stacks over the gable ends. Plan: 2-room-plan house plus later service rooms in outshut or lean-to (rear not inspected) at rear. Central through passage used to have C16 or C17 4-centred arched-chamfered doorway at the rear (now resited at Higher Spargo, qv). Outbuilding at right angles in front at the left-hand side. Exterior: Symmetrical 5-window south-east front with central doorway. C20 door and windows in original openings. Window opening right of doorway is blocked. Outbuilding has some reused C17 chamfered masonry. The wall returning parallel to the front of the house has C18 triangular copings. Interior not inspected.
