Description
Huer's House is a building that likely dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with few later alterations. It is constructed of painted stone rubble and features a stone roof, along with a large stack that has a rubble shaft.
The building is a small single-storey structure, roughly circular in shape, with an external stair at the rear. The tower serves as a stack that heats the room, which is open at the front facing the sea.
The exterior is single-storey and includes battlements. The front side facing the road has an external stair. The left side features a central window with a triangular head and a hood mould, flanked by diamond-shaped openings that are deeply splayed with small inner openings. The right side has a pointed arched light set in a raised surround, along with a similar diamond-shaped opening to the right and a blocked window with a cill and dripstone to the left. The rear side, which faces the sea, has splayed walls on either side of a wide opening. All windows are unglazed, and the external stair leads to the roof.
Inside, the fireplace is partly blocked. The previously blocked window once had a mullion with two unglazed lights.
Huer's House was historically used as a lookout for shoals of pilchards.
