Description

A pair of attached houses, built in the early to mid-19th century and now used as a single dwelling. A shop was inserted into the ground floor of the right-hand house circa mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of slatestone rubble with brick dressings, and have a hipped slurried slate roof with ridge tiles.

The plan originally featured a pair of houses with paired central entrances, one room at the front and one at the rear of each. The house to the right was built on a cellar and has a wider frontage.

The exterior presents a nearly symmetrical three-window front of three storeys. The ground floor of the left-hand house has a 16-pane sash window and a 20th-century door, both with segmental brick arches. The ground floor of the right-hand house has a 20th-century door with a cambered brick arch and keystone. To the right of this is a 2-light casement window to the cellar, and a panelled stall riser to the shop window, which is set in a square bay with 15 panes. A double-panelled door provides shop access, accompanied by a plain pilaster to the right of the door and to the left of the shop window, topped with a cornice. The first and second floors each have three 16-pane sash windows with cambered brick arches, arranged with two to the right and one to the left.

The interior remains uninspected.
