Description

The George and Dragon Inn is an early 19th-century public house located on the West side of St Nicholas Street in Bodmin. The building is constructed of stucco over rubble, with a bitumen-grouted slate roof and brick end stacks. It follows a shallow-depth plan and stands three storeys high, with a four-window frontage. The first floor has original 16-pane hornless sash windows to the left, while the remaining windows are later replacements with horns. A doorway is positioned to the left of centre, featuring incised panelled pilasters and a moulded entablature, leading to a six-panel door. A mid-to-late 19th-century shop front is situated on the right, matching the doorway's details with pilasters and a moulded entablature including dentils. This shop front contains a 20th-century door and a pair of late 19th-century horned sash windows.
