Description

This guide post, located at the junction with Squires Lane on the northwest side of Porthleven Road in Helston, dates from the early 19th century. It is made of dressed granite and features a pyramidal head, with the upper part painted. The post has a triangular shape and two inscribed faces. The left face displays the names "PENROSE," "PORTHLEVEN," and "HELSTON," while the right face reads "SITHNEY." Each name is accompanied by an incised hand pointer, with the left pointer resembling turned scroll spindles and the right one shaped like a squat diamond. This guide post is considered a fine and rare example of its type.
