Description
The Coach House to Tregrehan House, dated 1851 for Edward Carlyon, is a Grade II listed building associated with the nearby country house. It is constructed from local red rubble stone with granite dressings and features a dry slate hipped roof. The building has a long rectangular plan, with grooms' accommodation above what were likely former stables at either end, and three carriage houses in the center.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical front with three bays on each side of a central projection. The original windows on the right-hand side are hornless sashes, with the first-floor windows featuring glazing bars. The other windows are transomed two-light casements. The ground floor includes round-arched windows and flat-arched doorways flanking the central projection, along with three large elliptically-arched carriage doorways in the center, which have ledged doors and a mid-floor string.
The interior has not been fully inspected, but it is noted that there is a wooden partition in the tack area on the right. This coach house is part of an important group of buildings associated with Tregrehan House.
