Description
44 St Stephen's Hill is a village house, probably from the 17th century. The front is finished in stucco over rubble, featuring eared flat architraves and projecting sills. It has a steep rag slate roof adorned with seven 17th-century crested clay ridge tiles and brick stacks at the ends. The house has a two-room plan with a hall window bay and stands two storeys high, with a two-window range and a projecting two-storey bay on the left. The first floor has old four-pane, two-light casements, while the projecting bay on the left features a large 20th-century nine-pane window. There is a central 20th-century lean-to porch with a central two-light casement, a door on its right-hand side, and a 20th-century four-pane window on the right. The interior has not been inspected but is reported to retain original features, including the floor and roof structures.
