Description
Nancledra Methodist Church, in Towendack, was built in 1844, with a porch added in 1904. It is a simple rectangular building with a gallery and entrance at the west end. The church is constructed of granite ashlar, granite rubble, and granite dressings, with a hipped roof covered in scantle slate.
The west front has a symmetrical design, featuring two windows at gallery level and a central doorway with an elliptically-headed arch. The doorway retains its original six-panel doors and a two-pane fanlight, and is now sheltered by a Roman Doric porch. Round-headed windows are set into the side walls, all now containing 20th-century glazing. The interior has not been inspected but is said to retain much of its original features.
Low rubble courtyard walls run parallel to the front, topped with original hooped iron railings. The walls are finished with dressed granite copings. Two granite gate piers, each with a pyramidal cap, support a pair of 19th-century iron gates.
