Description

The gate-piers and walls to the northwest of Penheale Manor are a notable architectural feature dating from the 19th century. They consist of a pair of gate-piers made from reused dressed granite, which are complemented by flanking walls. The gate-piers are designed with engaged columns that have rounded caps and bases, likely repurposed from an earlier building, possibly from the 16th century. The flanking walls are constructed from stone rubble and topped with moulded granite coping. Granite steps lead up to the rose garden situated on the terrace above.
