Description
Tamsquite House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a private residence. It likely dates from the 18th century and was extended in the mid-19th century, although it may have earlier origins. The building is constructed from stone rubble with dressed quoins and features a rag slate roof, which has a hipped end on the left and a gable end on the right. There is a brick stack at the right end and a brick side lateral stack on the left.
The plan of the house is uncertain, but it may be 'L' shaped, with a mid-19th century range extending to the rear, creating a 'U' shaped layout. The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical front elevation featuring three windows and an asymmetrical side elevation with one window on the left and three on the right. The windows are early 19th century 16-pane sashes with granite lintels. There is a 19th century lean-to extension on the front right and a 20th century conservatory on the side. The interior was not accessible during the survey in 1986.
