Description

A farmhouse, likely dating from the mid-17th century, stands in Altarnun. The structure is built of stone rubble, rendered on the front, and has a rag slate roof with gable ends. Stone rubble end stacks are present, with the right-hand stack featuring a projecting cloam oven. The original plan consisted of two rooms and a cross or through passage, heated by end stacks. The farmhouse was extended to the rear during the 18th and 19th centuries, with service outshuts added across the back. The front facade presents an almost symmetrical three-window arrangement. A 19th-century gabled porch is located near the centre with a 19th-century panelled inner door. A 20th-century window is on the left, and a circa late 19th or early 20th century three-light casement is on the right. The first floor has two 20th-century windows, and a late 19th or early 20th century two-light casement. The interior was not inspected. This building possesses group value from the period.
