Description
Albany Farmhouse, dating to the late 18th century, is a farmhouse with an adjoining building to the west, which was likely originally a separate house. The farmhouse is constructed of painted killas rubble and cob, with the front rendered, while the adjoining building has painted rubble walling. The roof is corrugated asbestos, originally thatched, sweeping lower over a rear stair projection on the right-hand side, and with brick chimneys over the gable ends. A large buttressed external rubble breast is located on the right-hand side. The house is two storeys high. The overall south-facing elevation features a four-window range. The right-hand part of the house presents a nearly symmetrical two-window facade, with a doorway slightly off-centre to the right, now fitted with a 20th-century glazed door. Ground floor windows are four-pane horned sashes; the first-floor windows are original 16-pane hornless sashes. The two-window front of the adjoining building to the left has a central doorway with a ledged door and an original 16-pane horned sash window to the right. First floor windows are above the left-hand window and doorway, both featuring eight-pane fixed lights. A small building adjoining the far left has a window to the left and a doorway to the right. The interior of the farmhouse includes unmoulded beams to the ground floor rooms. The first floor and roof structure were not inspected.
