Description
A well-house and adjoining outbuilding, dating from around the late 18th or early 19th century. The structure is built of stone rubble, with granite dressings. It has a rag slate roof, hipped at the west end and gabled at the south east end. The building has a small, L-shaped plan, comprising a two-bay open-fronted well-house in the north west wing and an outbuilding in the south east wing, which is built over a basement with a lower ground level at the rear. The well-house has an open front on its inner side, with a single, roughly hewn granite post supporting the wall plate. The outbuilding features a doorway on its inner side and steps at the right end leading down to the lower level at the rear. This building contributes to the picturesque group of buildings situated to the rear of Penrose Farmhouse.
