Description
Rose Cottage is an 18th-century house located at the end of a row in St Allen, Zelah. The building is constructed of stone and cob, with the front rendered and whitewashed, topped with a wheat straw thatch roof. The layout consists of two rooms with a central hall and likely an original stair projection at the right end at the rear, which is covered by an extension of the roof. There are 20th-century lean-to additions on the north gable.
The house is two storeys high, with a facade that is symmetrically arranged but off-centre. It features a recessed 20th-century door and timber windows with multiple panes, all fitted into the original openings. There are gable stacks, with the left stack having two flues. The lean-to has a slate roof and a stable door, along with 20th-century windows. The rear elevation has a single small light located centrally beneath the eaves.
