Description
This is a barn and cowhouse attached to Lower Hampt, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, with later additions and alterations. The building is constructed of roughly coursed slate-stone, featuring alternating granite angle quoins and hipped slate roofs. The main range and the lower range attached to the left have a series of 12 round-headed arches on the ground floor, some of which have three-quarter height plank doors, while others are infilled. The main range includes two large openings on the first floor with plank double doors and bracketed lean-to hoods directly below the eaves, along with a small rectangular boarded window to the right. There is also a first-floor doorway to the left range. The interior has been much altered, and the roof structure was not visible during the last survey in November 1987.
