Description
This is a converted bank barn located 50 meters to the west of Lavethan, dating from around the mid-18th century and altered in the 1980s. The barn is constructed of stone rubble and features a slate roof with gable ends and deep overhanging eaves.
The building is set into a bank, presenting a two-storey elevation at the front and a single-storey elevation at the rear. It likely originally housed shippons on the ground floor, while the first floor was probably used for threshing, although there are no opposing doors; all three doors are located on the rear elevation, with one featuring a draw-bar on the inside.
The exterior has been altered in the late 20th century, showcasing a six-window front with modern fenestration. The ground floor includes three door openings, two ventilation slits, and six windows, while the first floor has six windows and a row of pigeon holes.
Inside, the barn boasts a fine-quality roof with principals that are halved, lapped, and pegged at the apices, and the collars are halved, lap-jointed, and pegged. This is a sizable barn situated to the west of Lavethan.
