Description
This is a barn located about 10 metres west of Bodrogan Farmhouse. It probably dates from the 17th century but was largely rebuilt around the 18th century, with some additions from the 19th century. The structure is made of slatestone rubble, partially rebuilt with 20th-century concrete block, and features some brick and granite details. The roof is hipped and covered with corrugated asbestos, while the horse engine shed at the rear has a slurried scantle slate roof.
The barn has a large rectangular shape and consists of three main sections, with the right end likely being the oldest part. There are pigeon lofts on both the right and left sides, and a 19th-century horse engine shed is built into the bank at the rear right.
The exterior is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with various doors and window openings. On the right side, there is a cart entry with double doors and a single doorway, along with a row of square pigeon holes and slate perches above. A drain hole is present at ground level on the right. The middle section features two windows on both the ground and first floors, although the upper level has been rebuilt in 20th-century concrete block. The left side has three ground floor doorways with segmental brick arches, including a central opening with a 6-pane window. Above, there are two rows of square pigeon holes and two blocked window openings. The right end has granite quoins and a small window opening at ground floor level, along with a 20th-century lean-to. The left end features a late 19th-century stone rubble lean-to.
At the rear, the polygonal horse engine shed is located to the left, built into the bank and featuring small window openings. To the right, there is a double doorway leading to the loft level, which is accessed by a ramp over a ditch. Below this doorway, at ground floor level, there is a 2-centred arched chamfered granite doorway with step stops, which appears to be original. To the right, there are two doors at loft level and one window opening at ground floor. The interior is not accessible.
