Description
The daymark at SW368217 is a landmark designed to mark an alignment with the Runnel Stone Reef, built in 1821. It features a painted stucco exterior over a rubble core, with a rubble base. The structure is round in plan, sitting on a square-edged plinth at the front and an irregular rubble base at the rear. The daymark consists of a cone atop a tapered shaft, which stands on a rectangular plinth. The left side of the plinth is painted white, while the right side is black. The lower part of the shaft is white, with black above it. An incised inscription on a plaque at the rear reads: "THIS BEACON WAS ERECTED BY THE CORPORATION OF TRINITY HOUSE OF DEPTFORD STRAND IN 1821."
