Description
Highlands is a house that was originally two cottages, now combined into one dwelling. It likely dates from the 18th century and was extended in the 20th century. The building features painted rubble and cob walls, topped with a wheat-reed thatched roof. There are brick chimneys at the gable ends and over the cross walls, along with a large external stack on the right side. The layout consists of a pair of one-room-plan cottages on the left, which have a central rear pantry or stair outshut, and a two-room-plan house on the right. The exterior is two storeys high with an overall four-window south front. The left side has a pair of one-window front cottages with a doorway to their right, while the right side has a symmetrical two-window front house with a central doorway. The doors and windows are from the 20th century but fit into 18th-century openings, featuring four-pane and twelve-pane casements. The interior has not been inspected.
