Description
Chacewood Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse located in Chacewater. The front is made of elvan ashlar, while the other walls are painted rubble. It has a half-hipped asbestos slate roof with four brick chimneys on the side walls. The building has two storeys plus an attic and features a four-room plan, with the main rooms on either side of a central stair hall and service rooms at the rear, creating a double depth layout. The east front is symmetrical with three windows, showcasing original hornless 16-pane sash windows. There is a plinth and a central doorway that contains an original six-panel door with flush beaded bottom panels, framed by a simple wooden doorcase with panelled reveals. The windows have cambered arches with projecting keystones. To the left is a hipped extension with a lean-to, and to the right is a lean-to store. The interior has not been fully inspected, but the entrance passage leads to an open well and an open string stair with a mahogany handrail.
